Anyone want to share the ride for a while?

Rod Germaine
Germaine enters the State of Maine

The Codger is on the last leg of his mad, continental journey. For his current whereabouts, check his daily blog below.

If you wish to communicate with him, email or call him at 604 813 1557.

There is still time to make a donation to the Just Aid Foundation ( in support of his ride.

To donate online, click here.

To donate by cheque, make it payable to "Just Aid Foundation" and send it to Just Aid Foundation, 300-1275 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6H 1A6.

And you can still make a conditional donation in the form of a pledge. Some have pledged to pay between 1 cent and up to 15 cents per kilometer he cycles. Some of these pledges are conditional on him getting to Halifax, some are not. You are free to design any pledge you wish. Send the particulars by email to

Rod is very grateful to his good friend Soe Naing for the ride to Toronto. He may not have made it without Soe Naing’s company and assistance.

Sincere thanks for all donations, pledges and to everyone who has offered support of any kind.

Day 5

It has been 3 days since my last update on the ride. We are currently staying at Keremeos and watching the Canuks game.

I am happy with 68 kms ride today from Princeton to Keremeos after nursing my right knee for a couple of days.

This blog will be updated regularly but please see for more detail about our day to day ride.

Thank you ... Finance

I haven't done anything to deserve it but it was such a nice treat by Finance for send-off delicious cakes. My heart felt appreciation and thanks to everyone of you.

Powered by IET

I have been overwhelmed with the support of management in helping me realize my dreams. I also appreciate my colleagues who have given me moral support and other forms of help throughout my preparation to bike across Canada. It is more than anything I could have asked for. I am so blessed to be part of the great team of Kwantlen where family and community spirit flourish.

The Ride

My preparation for the ride started as early as February. In addition to Rod’s advice, I did further research to make sure that I have everything I need for the trip. That was when Jane introduced me to Brian who cycled across Canada last year on the Paddle 4 Prostate tour and is currently cycling from Vancouver to Mexico on the Easter Seals on Wheels tour - Thanks to Brian for taking the time to share his cycling experience, and to Jason, who I know through Craigslist Vancouver, for giving me good advice on the bike I need for the ride.
